Submitted for the #55wordchallenge Week 15
For those that are uninitiated, the 55 Word Challenge is a contest to write a story in 55 words or less. Not an easy task, but fun and our host has been blown away by some of the entries. The rules for participating and past contests can be found at the link above. The challenge begins at noon Eastern time every Wednesday and ends at noon the following Tuesday. Winners will be posted Wednesday. The story is based on one of three photo prompts. This is my first time participating in this challenge. I have chosen the photograph of the night cyclist for my 55 word story, The Ride of Hope.
Steve had to sell his car to pay for the private detective. Two years ago, the detective and the Facebook page dedicated to finding his sister had many leads which all were dead ends. After a year of silence, Steve road his bicycle on a dark night hoping tonight’s message had been from his sister.
Ooh, I love the dark tone in this one, Maryann! I hope that the message is what he hopes it would be. Nice 🙂

Thanks. I do too. I think of it as she decided to disappear for whatever her reasons were and not foul play and now she is ready to come back.

It would be wonderful to find a lost family member. I must be naive, as I did not initially see the dark overtones that others noticed!

Yes it would. There are many ways to take the pictures if you can do it in 55 words. I originally was going to do a more light hearted story

Maryann ,what a co-incidence! I read in the newspaper today (Mumbai ,Times of India) that a cyclist rode to work but never reached his office and his family and friends started a fb page to find him. They have major clues leading to the city of Ahmedabad. I hope he is traced. As Shailaja has said there is a dark enigmatic tone to your tale and hope that his sis is found and is safe.

That is scary. My story was purely fiction and I had not heard about the Mumbai story.
