Submitted for Sunday Photo Fiction
The Assignment: The idea of Photo Fiction is write a story of around 100-200 words (which is also called Flash Fiction) based on a photo as a prompt. In this particular photo fiction, the story must be based on the photo below. This is a multiple part story. To follow the story, I have provided links to each of the previous parts:
In part 1, unemployed George thought he was checking something major off his “Honey Do List” but alas calling a company seen on television resulted in lost family heirlooms and an angry wife. Worse yet, the company that cleared out the garage seems to have vanished. Next in part 2, when Karla called the television station for help in contacting the junk dealers, she found out they do not exist and the junk dealers that do not exist are hiding out in a closed antique shop waiting for their boss. In part 3, George went down to the harbor to apply for a job on a oil rig and spotted the truck of the men who cleared out his garage. Approaching the truck had dire consequences as George was kidnapped at gun point. In part 4, a worried Karla went to the harbor looking for George. She found his car in the lot and the harbormaster’s office closed; but on the way back to her car, she found George’s keys in the parking lot.
And now, The Diaries, Part 5.
“Get him into the house while I grab the diaries. If anything happens to those diaries, the boss will hang us up like those sneakers,“ commanded Brock gesturing at a pair of green sneakers hanging from the telephone wire.
Once inside, George was taken into a small room. For the drive north, George had been blindfolded and his hands bound. After much debate, Rolf removed the blindfold and unbound George’s hands. Since the room had no windows, Rolf didn’t think he needed to worry about escape. He locked the door when he left the room.
Brock and Rolf were not used to running a kidnapping operation so they failed to search George and take his cellphone. Having turned the phone off in order to apply for a job, he now turned it back on. There were several messages but he couldn’t risk listening to the voicemails or making a call. Instead George sent a text to Karla.
“I’ve been kidnapped and it has something to do with the diaries but I don’t know why. According to the map on my phone, I am in a placed called Sleepy Hollow north of White Plains, New York. Please call the police.
