You’ve captured the essence of camping in the rain. Last year I tore our entire campsite down in the rain (a day early) because after the first night–which was wonderful–it just never stopped raining and the forecast was grim. It was awful and I was soaked.

    • Definitely not fun. We once discovered that there were some holes in the roof of our tent. My husband had a space blanket in our gear that I had teased him about . (It looked like a large piece of aluminum foil). It saved the night.

Oh camping in the rain-It was pouring when we came into our campsite. We put up a sad little tarp over the picnic table. My husband, at that time, set up the tent (2 man pup tent), in the rain. We had a pole since the rain gathered on the tarp and we would push the tarp to get rid of the pool of water which was over our heads. To finish things off we got visited by a family of skunks-mother and 5 babies-cute but no where to go. Thankfully they went on their merry way

A whistle-stop tour through the seasons! I also loved “not camping weather” but my favourite was “a canvas of color” – you descrbe that golden inbetween time perfectly!
