Submitted for Sunday Photo Fiction

spf

The Assignment: The idea of Photo Fiction is to write a story of around 100-200 words (which is also called Flash Fiction) based on a photo as a prompt. In this particular photo fiction, the story must be based on the photo below.  This is a serial story, so I encourage you to read part 1 , part 2 , part 3, part 4 and part 5  And now, the Incident, part 6.

“What should we do now?” asked Linda.

“Do you think this clue is enough to get the police interested in a cold case?” said Joanna.

“Things are getting over our heads on this.  If Marisa was murdered as you suggest, we need to get help?” said Mary.

“I agree,” said Joanna as she reached for the wall telephone.  Hearing no dial tone, Joanna tapped the switch hook a few times but couldn’t get a dial tone.  “Odd, there is no dial tone.”

“Use a cellphone,” said Karen as she reached for her phone.  “I have no reception.”

Suddenly they heard the sound of broken glass.  In the living room, Brad Kincaid step through a window.  With no weapon at hand, Joanna threw a glass of water in his face in an attempt to buy time.

Before Joanna and her friends could reach the door, Brad pulled a handgun and commanded, “Sit on the couch now!”

Joanna attempted to call 911 on her cellphone.

“I cut your phone line.  As for the cellphones, there was a reason I was called a technogeek in college.”

The women sat in fear.

“Hello Joanna,” said Brad.  His tone sounding both lustful and deranged simultaneously.

I was wondering how you were going to use this one 🙂 I already have next weeks photo lined up, so that should be an interesting one as well 🙂 You take these in really well.

    • Thanks. At first I was thinking that I would tie the water to the original crime since it was a glass of water with arsenic but decided there wasn’t enough words to get him in the house and have that conversation. Thanks for great prompts.

And now we have Brad in the fold! Hopefully Al provides something beneficial for the girls to use next week! Brad’s going down…but how? Nicely done again this week!
