Submitted for Sunday Photo Fiction
The Assignment: The idea of Photo Fiction is to write a story of around 100-200 words (which is also called Flash Fiction) based on a photo as a prompt. In this particular photo fiction, the story must be based on the photo below. This is a serial story, so I encourage you to read part 1 , part 2 , part 3 and part 4. And now, the Incident, part 5.
“Don’t answer it,” whispered Mary as all four women looked at the door in fear.
Joanna peered through the peephole and saw a familiar old man standing on the porch.
“Who is it?” said Joanna.
“Joanna? It’s Mr. Woolsey from next door. I saw the lights and I knew your mother was away.”
“Come in Mr. Woolsey.”
Jerome looked around at the congregated women and thought it didn’t look like a happy gathering but he said nothing.
After some introductions, Joanna said, “Would you like some coffee?”
“Oh no. If I drink coffee, I’ll be up half the night. I’ll let you get back to your friends.”
Joanna walked him to the door.
“One last thing. You probably know since she was your friend but don’t try to go into the woods behind the housing development while you are here. Since your friend fell in the pond, the police have it roped off.”
“Thank you for checking the house. It has been nice seeing you.”
Neither noticed the black van. Inside, Brad peered at his Joanna with binoculars.
“Linda. I think you found an important clue. Brad was no longer a student at the time because he had been expelled.”
Another installment that makes me look forward to Sunday 🙂
Also love that your icon is now that damned black van!

Thank you. I think he’ll make a move next week. Joanna and her friends are sitting ducks and now we know where Marissa met her end.

I liked the way you built the fear and then eased it off. Reminds me of the thriller films 🙂 I am loving this story
