Submitted for Sunday Photo Fiction
The Assignment: The idea of Photo Fiction is to write a story of around 100-200 words (which is also called Flash Fiction) based on a photo as a prompt. In this particular photo fiction, the story must be based on the photo below. This is a serial story, so I encourage you to read part 1 and part 2. And now, the Incident, part 3.
“Although the University was the scene of the crime, we need to work out a plan first,” said Karen.
“Since we’ll be staying at my mom’s while she is away, let’s go there now,” said Joanna.
Back in the rental car, Joanna drove onto the highway. After several miles, Joanna peered in her rearview mirror and frowned.
“There is a black van that has been behind us since the University,” said Joanna.
“Someone is following us?” said Mary.
“I’m not sure. I’m going to get off the highway and see what happens.”
After they exited, the black van continued down the highway.
“I guess I’m just paranoid,” said Joanna. “To be sure, let’s continue the commute to my mom’s house on the secondary roads.”
Arriving without seeing the black van again, the women took their bags into the house and chose bedrooms. “Let’s get settled and meet in the kitchen in thirty minutes,” said Joanna.
Later as the full moon filled the night sky, he watched the house from his black van. “Did they think I needed to follow them in order to know where they were going? I spent a lot of time at Joanna’s house twenty years ago.”
Yikes!!!

Yes. I have to say that Marisa voicemail message from the grace was correct in that Joanna would definitely be surprised who the suspect was. Apparently she’s known him for more than 20 years. Stay tuned.
