Joe’s Luck

For Joe, Friday night could not come fast enough. Between problems with his boss and his loneliness since Mary passed away, he was really looking forward to meeting his friends at the pub to put the week behind him. Luck was with Joe as by some miracle he found a parking space near O’Malley’s Pub. Joe came into the pub and looked around for his friends. His friends were not hard to find when they were always the rowdiest group in the place. Walking towards the back of the room he spotted a waitress and ordered his favorite beer. He took a seat and said hello to the guys.

“Glad you could make it Joe, ” said Dave.

“With the week I just had, you guys are just what I needed,” answered Joe.

“The boss still hassling you?” said Mike.

“That and I keep waking up at night, “ said Joe.

“What you need is to start dating again,” suggested Dave. “It’s been a year so think about getting back out there.”

“I’m not sure Dave. Where would I meet someone as great as Mary?” said Joe.

“Look around you. There are so many lovely ladies here tonight. Pick one out and go and talk to her,” said Dave.

Just as Joe was about to protest Dave’s suggestion, the door to the pub opened and Joe felt a burst of air from outside. Looking towards the door, he was rendered speechless. Joe was looking at the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. When she walked, she portrayed grace and confidence. Her red hair reached the middle of her back and it was curled around a heart shaped face. She had a beautiful smile that reached her eyes. Joe hoped the smile was not for a man and he thought his luck was continuing when she joined another female.

“Dave, tonight I think I will take your advice,” said Joe as he rose and crossed the room.

Hmmm….he “thought” his luck was continuing. Maybe she’s not emotionally available to him. The romantic in me would like to think she gives him a chance, though 🙂

  3. Go for it, Dave!
